It’s time to shed the old year and slither into something new! Arapahoe Libraries will celebrate the Lunar New Year with free events to ring in the Year of the Snake. One is a FREE online presentation exploring the traditions and preparations for the Lunar New Year. The other is a calligraphy workshop held at two different libraries, Smoky Hill and Southglenn. Because these events and workshops are limited in space and expected to fill quickly, we suggest you register now.

Join us for a free online presentation to explore Lunar New Year, one of the most significant holidays for Chinese communities worldwide.
Museum of Chinese in America will share how people prepare for Lunar New Year, the meanings behind various customs, and how Chinese Americans preserved and adapted these customs. Learn what makes these celebrations both unique and universal.
Chinese Calligraphy Workshop
Session 1: Saturday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Smoky Hill Library (5430 S. Biscay Cir., Centennial)
Session 2: Saturday, Jan. 25, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Southglenn Library (6972 S. Vine St., Centennial)
Who: ages 16+ and adults
A free workshop to explore the beautiful art of Chinese calligraphy. In this fun and easy-to-follow class, local artist and letterer Christian Cruce will teach the basics of calligraphy with step-by-step instructions.
The event will be bilingual in Spanish and English. All supplies provided.
