Anyone up for some arcade-style fun? Check out ARTcade, now open at Understudy, the Denver Theatre Districts arts and culture experimental space, in the Colorado Convention Center. ARTcade is much like a traditional arcade, but with an artistic twist. Each of the ARTcade games were designed or customized by artists, including pinball tables, claw machines, gachapon-style vending machines, a coin pusher, and more.
Some ARTcade games are FREE. Pinball machines cost 25¢ and claw machines are 50¢ to $1 to play. Organizers tell MHOTC that the games are set so that it’s easier to win a prize. The goal is to have visitors win and leave with a prized piece of art.
Prizes are provided by a collection of talented artists. They include enamel pins, coloring books, miniature paintings, jewelry, tea towels, art prints, small sculptures and much more.
ARTcade promises to deliver a fun and friendly experience to lovers of classic arcade games and contemporary art alike. It is appropriate for all-ages.
The space is open through January 30, 2022 on Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. ARTcade is closed December 15 to 19, 24 & 25 and 31.
The Denver Theatre District’s Understudy is located at the Colorado Convention Center, 890 C 14th St., next to the RTD Light Rail stop.
