How’s this for an “off-the-wall” experience? Gliding, dancing, falling with style — Bandaloop seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality with intricate choreography and climbing technology to turn the dance floor on its side. Bandaloop gives a FREE performance on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. on the outer walls of the Ritchie School of Engineering and Science and the Sie Complex at the University of Denver campus.
The show is part of an afternoon of fun and delight that includes food trucks, and performances by Denver based groups Playground Ensemble, Presenting Denver and students from DU’s Lamont School of Music.
Bandaloop will be performing LOOM:FIELD, directed by Melecio Estrella. The number is part of a trilogy of large-scale, outdoor public vertical dance pieces that deepens and challenges our perspectives on the art and industry of textiles.
Here’s a video of the company.
Bringing together a collective of performing artists, climate scientists, regenerative textile artists, a visual technologist and creative riggers, the piece turns a building’s facade into a giant loom, where stories and dances interlace.
The performance wall is within a short walk of the Newman Center. 2344 E. Iliff Ave., Denver.
