The excitement surrounding the reopening of the “new and improved” Casa Bonita is heating up. Under ownership of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the iconic local restaurant has undergone major renovations inside and out — including its previously much discussed menu of Mexican food. (Hot, fresh sopapillas? Raise that flag!)
The “pink castle” in Lakewood first opened its doors on March 27, 1974. And, after so many wonderful memories and a few challenging years because of the pandemic, it’s now about to reopen its doors.
The restaurant announced that it would reopen in May 2023. (However, that may have been pushed back, given it’s now the end of May. No other announcements have been made.)
Who gets to experience it first is one of the hottest tickets in town. It seems everyone wants to experience the caves, tunnels, divers and more (especially its revamped menu!) once again.
For many locals, Casa Bonita holds many special family and/or childhood memories.
FUN FACT: MHOTC’s very own Bryan once auditioned for a Casa Bonita commercial as a kid — “It’s a feast! It’s a fest! It’s a ‘feast-ival’ at Casa Bonita!” He’s still waiting for his callback!
Okay, back to the important information, how do you get to be one of the first through the doors? Well, those lucky invitees will solely be selected by those who have signed up for Casa Bonita’s e-mail list.
From Casa Bonita: “While beta-testing Casa Bonita, we will be opening with limited dinner hours. Our first guests will be pulled EXCLUSIVELY from our email list.” No walk-ins will be allowed.
Thank you
I’ve been going to Costco Benita since I was a kid. I’m excited to see the new renovations
loved this place when I was a kid! can’t wait to see it!
I went to Casa Bonita as a teen, made sure my children also got to experience it, and I’m now excited to introduce my granddaughter to all of the fun.
I love this place and so happy it’s returned! Always the perfect place for celebrations and out of town guests. Thanks for bringing it back
I’ve had tons of friends work there. As divers, wait staff and one of my besties own brother has worked there since it opened and is now kitchen manager!
Bring on the skeeball and the UBER family fun!!! Anxiously awaiting my turn to make new memories.
I moved to Colorado in 1975. We brought countless guests/visitors to Casa Bonita. Looking forward to the next chapter of Casa Bonita.
So excited!
Would like to join email list for dining.
