There’s a new outlet store that you must check out. Big Box Outlet buys all sorts of items in bulk and then sells them at super low prices — we’re talking 50 to 90% off! It is located at at 6700 E. Warren Ave. (at Monaco & Evans) in Denver. Unlike some places that are trashy or sell cheaply-made items, the store is filled with products from name-brand retailers such as Walmart, Amazon and Target.
Here’s how it works: Anything in a bin — clothes, shoes, tools, toys, diapers, hardware, home decor — is priced based on the day you visit.
Take note! The store has just changed the days it is open. On Friday, when the store is fully-stocked and overflowing with goods, items are $16. Prices drop each day — $16, $9, $6 and $4 to $2 on Tuesday.
So if you want the best assortment from which to choose, you come in on Wednesday. If you want less choice but a lower price, you wait until the weekend.
Besides the bins, Big Box Outlet has larger or more expensive items such as bicycles, luggage, cribs, small appliances, and more, set up around the store. These “finds” are up to 50% off.
I stopped by on Sunday and was impressed. The store is clean, open and tidy. And even though the stock was a bit low, there was nothing junky. I spotted name brand clothes, shoes, toys, home decor, fitness equipment, tableware, luggage, even a hoverboard.
Shoppers report getting Squishmallows, LEGO, Black & Decker, Shark, Huggies, Pampers, O’Cedar and other name brands at a fraction of retail.
There’s an area with kids bicycles and owner Scott Pellow says he’ll assemble any bike bought by a single mom (he’s that kind of nice guy).
I even walked out with a huge box of Play-Doh, a B-Toys vet clinic toy set (I had seen at Target for $10) and a Leapfrog electronic toy that sells for about $15. Each cost me $2.
As Scott learns more from his customers about what they want and need, he’ll keep adding more categories of inventory.
Already, he’s looking to add cleaning supplies, personal care products, paper goods and maybe nonperishable groceries such as coffee.
Like any bin store, what he stocks depends on what he can find being sold off my retailers. But that does add to the fun. You never quite know what you’ll find each week.
Store hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Tuesday. They restock on Wednesday and Thursday.
The store is at 6700 E. Warren Ave., Ste 166, Denver. It’s a bit tricky to find, but basically on the east side of Monaco at Evans in Monaco Village. (There’s a huge apartment complex under construction.)
Turn east at the entrance to the car wash off Monaco (you may see some small yard signs at the corner for Big Box Outlet), head straight back and it is in the corner.
A BIG Thanks to Lisa L. for emailing us about Big Box Outlet!
Just curious. Do you think all items in the store are worth at least $16 to start with?
Not necessarily. Some are definitely worth more than $16, others (usually smaller items) are not. If you are looking for high value items then it is best to visit the first day. But if you are more budget minded you can wait until Day 2 or 3 for the best selection, knowing that a few of the “steals” will be gone.
