Union Pacific’s beloved Big Boy No. 4005 is having a weekend celebration Saturday & Sunday, August 3 & 4, 2024 at Denver’s Forney Museum. Big Boy No. 4005 was donated to the museum in the 1970’s and is housed there. During Big Boy Days, not only will there be train vendors, merchandise and multiple model train layouts, but the Big Boy’s cab will be open to visitors.
Feel free to enter the cab and have a close-up view of the controls and the interior of the firebox. Experience first-hand what it was like when the engineer and fireman were seated at the controls and operating what is considered one of the largest steam locomotive ever built.
Don’t miss this unique experience to see a piece of transportation history. Photos are encouraged!
The event is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $5 for children 3-12 (2 and under are free) and adults 13+ are $13.
4303 Brighton Blvd., Denver.
Does $13 include admission to the museum?
Charles. I am unsure. It did not say online if admission was included. — LD
