The remaining four Big Lots locations in Colorado will be closing their doors soon. The discount retail chain has slowly been closing locations over the last year or so, as it struggled financially. However, they have now officially filed for bankruptcy, blaming inflation, an inability to compete and customers no longer spending as much money on home and seasonal purchases.
Close Out Sale
As seasoned bargain hunters know, the discount will increase periodically as the final day of business approaches. The longer you wait, the bigger the discount. However, the selection gets smaller over time, so it’s all about shopping at the right time. For many, the best time to start shopping is when the discount hits 50% off.
As of now, we have not confirmed any details regarding the closeout sale or when stores will officially close their doors.
If you shop any of the closing stores, let us know what you find and we’ll update the post. Send updates to info@milehighonthecheap.com with the subject “Big Lots Closing Update”.
Thank you for your investigative work at the Aurora location, Jacqueline K.! As of December 21, 2024, “The store manager was putting up 10 and 20 percent discount signs while I was in the store. He said that to find out pricing, it is best to have the cashier scan the item for a price check. There was no discount on food and 10% off on cosmetics.
The store was in disarray, but had about 90 to 95% of the merchandise still on the shelves. I would say that there is no special reason to rush to this store as the discounts are minimal. If there is something specifically that you like at Big Lots, then grab it now as it will probably not be available in the future.”
