UPDATED: 36 Local Places To Order & Buy Produce, Fruit, Meat & Grocery Staples
Just added: Romano’s Macaroni Grill. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Colorado is, by nature, an agricultural state. Though it may be a month or more before our farmer’s markets open (they are considered essential businesses), in the meantime there are other options instead of the supermarket for locally-grown fruit, vegetables, meat and more. Some are wholesalers who are opening their doors to retail customers because of so many restaurant closures. Others are restaurants, butcher shops, farmers or specialty retailers. We plan to update this list, so bookmark it and keep checking back. [Read more…] about UPDATED: 36 Local Places To Order & Buy Produce, Fruit, Meat & Grocery Staples
Stores Will Continue To Offer Special Hours For Seniors & Others
Special hours at most retailers are expected to continue through May. Everyone needs to play an active role in taking care of all the vulnerable populations in our community, especially the elderly. A simple trip to the grocery store can now be an arduous task for those populations because of the potential exposure to other shoppers. (If you’re healthy, please ask your older relatives, neighbors and friends, if they need assistance with picking up groceries or other necessities.) How To Order Groceries Online – Compare Your Options
If you’ve ever thought about ordering groceries online, now may be the time to try it. No having to set your alarm to get in early or try to figure out when various aisles are restocked. True, you can’t pick and choose that specific batch of bananas or scan boxes of cereal for the latest expire date. On the otherhand, you let someone else do the heavy lifting, while you stay home. But people who have never ordered food online may be confused by the options. [Read more…] about How To Order Groceries Online – Compare Your Options
Colorado Rancher Selling Bison Meat Direct To Consumers
Colorado rancher Rex Moore of Rock River Bison typically sells his bison meat to restaurants. Having lost 80% of his business last week, he is turning to direct consumer sales. He has lots of bison meat in his coolers and warehouse and would like to sell to you. As Moore tells MHOTC, “Yes, I am real. The plea for help is real. Yes, I am selling bison meat direct to the consumer. Yes, Craigslist took down my ad since it was getting so much traffic.” [Read more…] about Colorado Rancher Selling Bison Meat Direct To Consumers
4 Ways To Get Wine Delivered To Your Door, Including Local Wine Shops That Deliver
We love Colorado. After all, our very wise government officials included certain–ahem–stores on the “essential services” list. And, we are totally on board with you heading to the grocery store as little as possible, and waiting until you have a list of things to buy, rather than heading there for one or two items. But maybe you’re out of wine. [Read more…] about 4 Ways To Get Wine Delivered To Your Door, Including Local Wine Shops That Deliver
King Soopers: Free Friday Download Update
Much to the dismay of many bargain hunters, King Soopers changed its popular FREE Friday Download last year. The weekly offer seemed to just disappear and, then, randomly show up with no consistency or schedule. It was frustrating for many who counted on the weekly freebie. The ride was good while it lasted, with so many grocery items at no cost. For value-conscious shoppers, it doesn’t get much better than FREE. King Soopers Changes Free Friday Download…Again
This is the fourth week without a FREE Friday Download, so we put our bargain-hunting team to the task of finding an answer. There has been one question on the mind of many of our bargain-loving readers. We’ve heard from readers via e-mails, texts, phone calls and, even, carrier pigeons. (Okay, we’re exaggerating…but just a bit!)
The one question everyone is asking: What is going on with King Soopers’ Free Friday Download offer? [Read more…] about King Soopers Changes Free Friday Download…Again

Why I Am Kicking My Nearest King Soopers To The Curb
Normally, we don’t post many personal experiences on MHOTC, but sometimes we just have to vent and you, our favorite Mile High Cheapskates, are always willing to listen. Yesterday, I headed to my closest King Soopers for some light shopping. As some of you are aware, I often use coupons to pick up extra items to donate to local charities. Using coupons in combination with a sale can sometimes shave the price on food or toiletries down to mere pennies or just the sales tax. My latest outing was to pick up some Colgate toothbrushes. My closest King Soopers is at Monaco & Leetsdale and even when other King Soopers are out of stock for a particular sale item, this store usually has them. Now, I know why. How To Get The Best Deals at Safeway
We’ve had many debates with fellow bargain hunters about where to find the best grocery deals in town. For many, Safeway is at the top of the list. To be fair, we know many readers consider Safeway to be “too expensive.” However, we have found lots of savings at Safeway (especially since being acquired by Albertsons), so we’ve created a guide for navigating its aisles for the best deals and discounts. We have decades of experience as both Safeway customers and bargain hunters, so, hopefully, we can offer some “valuable” insight. (We’ve even been known to save upwards of 75% on our grocery bill.)
