My favorite part dates back to when I was a child and we would bring out our treasured ornaments, especially the bubbly lights, and decorate the tree as a family.
We get an ornament from everywhere we travel and relive a lifetime of memories each year as we hang them and remember the times we have spent as a family, individually or with friends. Sitting by the light of the tree, being thankful for all that is good.

I love getting the family together to take our family themed Santa pictures. This year our Santa picture we will be wearing shirts that have every cancer ribbon on it to represent our aunt that is fighting breast cancer, my best friend that passed away from colon cancer, a friend of our that was just diagnosed with blood cancer and our furry baby that has kicked cancers butt twice (skin and sarcoma). After losing both of my parents at 21, the holidays can be challenging, but are filled with meaning and I’ve learned to make each one count. I love having some time off work during the holidays to spend with family and friends! It’s the perfect way to wrap up the year, prepare for the next and decompress from the everyday stresses of life. We love to watch movies together, cook special meals we don’t usually have time for and just relax while enjoying everyone’s company.

Holidays mean time spent with family, even more now that I lost my father to a 3 year battle with Cancer. I look forward to spending time with my mom, brother, his wife, my niece and nephews, and my daughter! We get together for a big holiday meal at Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. This year my mom is taking us to see ICE at Gaylord Rockies (like I did in the middle of my dad’s cancer journey) and we would love to see Cirque Dreams as well. I’ve never seen that show and would love to see the merriment and wonder through my niece and nephews eyes! Thanks so much for the opportunity.
In all honesty most of my family traditions stopped when I lost most of them to some fom of cancer. I miss being able to get together with them, bickering or not. There were always fun memories made. And some pretty hilarious stories. Still working on creating some fun filled memories with my kiddos though.

My absolute favorite part starts with an annual tradition of meeting at my cousin’s house on the first weekend of December where we make Pierogis that we will eat on Christmas Eve. It ends with the traditional Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinner which I prepare and everyone looks forward to. It’s the only time of year that we make Borscht, Pieroghies, and Holuptsi. Our mother passed last year at the age of 98 so keeping the tradition alive is very important to us.

As my boys outgrew Santa traditions, we made new ones! We went to see the new Star Wars movies for years on Christmas morn and go ice skating downtown on Christmas Eve, checking out Christmas lights on the way home. My 24 yr old son rents a huge gorgeous house with his best friends in Aurora and so we gathered there for the first time last year as there is a real wood fireplace that we all gather around for hours sharing drinks and opening presents. I like adult Christmas much more as a single mom than when they were little- WAYless work!!

Driving around the neighborhoods after dark with my family to ogle all of the illuminated homes (while sipping the peppermint-spiked hot chocolate that I made at home on the stovetop, carefully poured into travel mugs)… very warm, cozy and festive :)
We love playing in the snow on Christmas.

Favorite part about the holidays is the seasonal teas, sweaters (that are actually pajamas), and making DIY gifts because, I’m a MHOTC subscriber after all!

I love that the Xmas holidays are a time of remembering the peace and joy that these holidays represent with all.
My favorite part of the holidays are remembering the family members who have passed; my daughter, mother, brother, father, my sisters fiance, and mother and father in law. Our family gets together and decorates the tree with ornaments that represent each member and attaches a memory that we share. Our meal consists of dishes we grew up with and shared with our family over the years. Then we chose a special activity or show to enjoy and create more memories.

Family Christmas is the best! I love the wonder in the eyes of the kids on Christmas Morning! My kids are grown so we spend the night at my son’s house so we can be there Christmas Morning and be part of that experience with his girls. We love doing the carriage rides downtown to see all the lights together too!
My favorite part of the holiday is our Christmas Eve tradition where we open one gift (always pajamas and hot chocolate and mug) and we all throw on our pajamas, and watch the Polar Express movie near our lit Christmas Tree. Family traditions are definitely my favorite !
Chistmas is the only time that i have family around. I live in the US and I always travel to see family for Christmas. It means home, love, and quality time with loved ones.
