Are you (or your child) a STEM student between the ages of 10 and 18 looking for a unique and exciting opportunity to explore your passion for science and technology? Check out a the Civil Air Patrol’s FREE Rocketry Event on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Participants you can learn all about the science and engineering behind rocket launches and experience the thrill of launching their own rocket!
The event is at Gateway High School in Aurora and there are two sessions: 9 a.m. to noon and noon to 3 p.m.
Because organizers are expecting a large turnout, registration is required to secure a rocket to launch. No one will be turned away, but they may not get a rocket, without the RSVP.
During the event, participants have the opportunity to:
- Learn how to build and launch your own model rocket!
- Build and launch a rocket made from pop-bottle parts.
- Sit in the cockpit of a real glider
- Play with Sphero robots and learn how they work.
- Experience our flight simulators.
- Get a demonstration of our drones, and learn how to fly them too!
- Learn about all the aerospace experiences that Civil Air Patrol can provide to you to elevate your future.
Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a fantastic organization that offers a wide range of educational opportunities for kids interested in aerospace. Through various programs and initiatives, CAP teaches kids about aviation, aerospace, and STEM-related fields.
Some of the opportunities that are available to CAP members are free orientation flights, an advanced model rocketry course, drone pilot programs, and an in-depth aerospace education.
