Seems like the West Colfax MuralFest became such a big hit that it has transformed into a two-day arts experience, now called Colfax ArtFest. The FREE arts festival is Friday & Saturday, August 2 & 3 and includes live music, live mural painting and art demos, creative vendors, free trolley tours, food trucks, craft beer, and kids’ activities.
Things get going on Friday with a First Friday Art Walk & Colfax Avenue Exhibition at 40 West Arts Gallery. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. you can visit the rest of the open galleries in the district.
Later that evening is an ultimate First Friday after party. The location is top secret location and will be released the night of (in the heart of 40 West Arts District). This event is FREE and open to the public for ages 21+ but you must get a ticket from one of the galleries during the art walk, while supplies lasts.
Saturday’s ArtFest includes a vendor market with more than 20 artisans selling handmade or local goods and doing artist demos. This is at Lamar Station from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A classic car show is to be staged from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hop on the FREE trolley every half hour from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for an approximately 20 minute tour of public art in the district.
Watch six muralists paint a masterpiece from start to finish while enjoying music in the background from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. And from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., enjoy live tunes from Graham Good and the Painters.
Lamar Station Plaza (home to Casa Bonita) is at 6501 W Colfax Ave., Lakewood.
So is it Aug 2,3 or Aug 9,9. Your post says 2 different dates
Hi Laura or Brian,
The dates for this Art Festival is listed as Aug. 2 and 3 but the green boxes show Aug. 9 and 10.
Not sure what the dates actually are for this event in case I want to do it.
Thanks.
Rosalie Richter
This event is August 2 & 3. Sorry about the confusion. The phone must have rung in the middle of writing it up. We have also added the link to the event website. — Laura
