While Colorado boasts countless Christmas attractions, most cost a pretty penny. Colorado Christmas Adventure is the exception. This FREE, family-friendly event at Mission Hills Church overflows like Santa’s big red sack with holiday fun. You’ll find a gingerbread house display and competition, live musical performances by carolers, cookie decorating, Christmas stories and holiday characters such as the Grinch, Buddy the Elf, Jack Frost, Snowman and others on hand for photos.
Walk through a delightful display of edible artwork, crafted into gingerbread houses from scores of families, groups, individuals and pastry professionals. Vote on your favorite. Judging will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m., with awards presented at 11:30 a.m.
Kids can make their own craft — actually two! — one to keep and one to give away. Ice and decorate your own cookie to take home. Each child can choose his or her own cookie and enjoy the cookie decorating process without the mess at home. A Food Marketplace will be open, too.
Parents can browse through St. Nick’s Christmas Shoppe, featuring local vendors, to find the perfect gift for anyone on their list. Proceeds will be donated to the Mission Hills Toy Drive to help local families in need provide Christmas gifts for their children.
Though entry is FREE both days, organizers encourage everyone to bring a toy to be donated to Colorado families in need of a little help this Christmas.
Colorado Christmas Adventure is open Friday, December 6 from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. 620 Southpark Dr., Littleton.
