Colorado Music Festival presents its six-week summer concert season from June 29 through August 6, 2023, at Chautauqua Auditorium (900 Baseline Rd.) in Boulder, offering 20 diverse performances of orchestral and chamber music by the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra and guest artists, alongside educational programming.
The Festival features world-class musicians from around the country who arrive in Boulder to perform as the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, under the direction of Peter Oundjian. Additionally, 12 guest artists perform throughout the season with the orchestra.
Single tickets for a performance range from $18 to $80. However, if you’re on a budget, you can still experience the music for FREE, thanks to its open rehearsals.
See the orchestra in an intimate setting, as they prepare for their next performance. The community is invited to attend a number of Colorado Music Festival rehearsals at Chautauqua Auditorium, where you can witness a professional orchestra and visiting guest artists hard at work on stage.
Rehearsals are not performances, so observe the following guidelines during your visit:
The Orchestra musicians will be making final preparations for their performance, so there is no guarantee that they will perform all of the works on the upcoming performance.
Although musicians and artists may be speaking to one another on stage, it is disruptive for audience members to carry their own conversations. Please observe the same silence you would keep for a performance.
Please expect to remain seated during the open rehearsal. Trips in and out of the auditorium can be disruptive to the musicians.
There are two open rehearsals during the 2023 season:
Wednesday, July 12
10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Corigliano, One Sweet Morning
Wednesday, July 19
10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 4
Note: The rehearsal order and selection of rehearsed repertoire can vary at the discretion of the conductor. Guest artists are typically not present at open rehearsals.
Also, parking can be limited on the Chautauqua campus, during weekdays for these open rehearsals. Patrons are encouraged to find parking along Baseline Road.
