Woo-hoo! The Denver Public Library (DPL) will expand hours at five locations starting Sunday, July 23, 2023. The locations will now be open on Sundays, they will also open earlier on weekday mornings and will add some additional evening hours. Locations include: Green Valley Ranch Branch Library, Sam Gary Branch Library, Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Branch Library, Hadley Branch Library, and Hampden Branch Library.
Each location will add 12 additional open hours during the week. Sunday hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plans are in the works to add hours at other locations over time.
The five branches will have limited services during the first open hour (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) and during open evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In those hours customers can access library materials, use self-service checkout, computers, print/copy, community rooms and study rooms.
Community rooms may be reserved from opening until 30 minutes before the branch closes.
The extra hours are being funded by Strong Library, Strong Denver, through the Denver Public Library Fund. Denver voters passed a measure in November 2022, which established the DPL Fund, so the library receives an additional $32 million a year. The extra funding allows branches to stay open longer.
Check with your nearest library for the new hours or go to this DPL webpage for library locations and hours (though we noticed that the new hours weren’t yet posted).
