El Dia De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a tradition in Mexico to celebrate the life of loved ones passed. This year, the Día de los Muertos Family Celebration will open the season in downtown Longmont on Saturday, October 12, 2024. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. enjoy a huge, FREE street festival, including music and dance performances, arts and craft activities, cultural education, delicious food, downtown business altars, and the Gigantes Procession.
Bring the kids to decorate their very own “calaveras” or Mexican Sugar Skulls and make paper flowers. Don your finest calaca (skeleton) costume.
Join a procession of dozens of gigantes, traditional giant puppets made by local artists. The procession departs from the Family Fiesta and walks through downtown Longmont, ending at the Dickens Opera House.
Día de los Muertos exhibition at the Longmont Museum will also be open and FREE.
Park downtown or at the Longmont Museum and take the free shuttle between locations so you can enjoy all the activities of the day.
