X marks the spot and the spot is Northglenn for this year’s Pirate Festival on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from noon to 6 p.m. at E. B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park. Young and old alike are welcome to join in a FREE full day of pirate ruckus. Again this year: entry to the Pirate Ball on Friday, September 20 will be FREE (pay for dinner and drink on site).
During the Festival, young’uns can enjoy bounce houses, crafts, contests, mermaids, treasure hunts ‘n more.
Older mateys can try their hand at physical feats ‘o strength, plenty of drinkin’ of mead, rum and ale, walking around in costume and more.
This year’s event includes performances by Nerea the Fidlar, The Pan Association, Bottlerocket Hurricane and Banthom House among others.
In lieu of the Cardboard Boat Regatta, there will be the first ever “Ships Ashore Show.”
The Ships Ashore Show is all about creativity, competition, and innovation in boat building skills. Above all, the show is all about having fun building your ship and showing off your creativity! Additionally, each registration earns you a Pirate Fest “bag of loot!”
Festivities actually begin on Friday, September 20 with the Pirate Ball from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entry is FREE to the bash for the 18+ crowd.
Pirate Ball will include music on the Main Stage including Fables of the Fall and Potcheen, a dinner, crowning of the “Pirate King” and more.
This will be a social engagement for pirates and costumes will be encouraged (if not expected). Best dressed pirates will be asked to compete in the Pirate costume contest for prizes. Dinner and drinks including mead, rum and beer may be purchased from individual vendors.
The park is located at 11701 Community Center Dr., Northglenn.
