Fire Muster 2026 Highlights
Kids can climb on real fire trucks, shoot real fire hoses, and watch rescue demonstrations.
The South Metro Safety Foundation (SMSF) is bringing Engine 1/2, a scaled-down fire truck equipped with kid-sized bunker gear. SMSF techs will give youngsters tips on how, when, and why to call 9-1-1 and perform hands-only CPR.

The National Fire Sprinkler Association demonstrates its side-by-side burn trailer, bringing live burns to the public.
Spectators can feel the heat, see the fury of fire, witness a fire sprinkler activation and realize how quickly that same fire can be extinguished when sprinklers are present.
During an auto extrication demonstration, firefighters will pry apart a crashed car with a “Jaws of Life” to remove an accident “victim” and transport him (or her) to a waiting ambulance.
The Children’s Hospital Colorado Children’s One Flight Team lands their neonatal/pediatric emergency helicopter nearby.

The Muster has gone to the dogs! This year you can meet and greet canines from Search & Rescue Dogs of Colorado, Track Force 1 Hounds and their Handlers and First Responder Therapy Dogs, a free service founded in 2021 which addresses the mental health and emotional support needs of first responders across the country.
Smokey Bear and members of the U.S. Forest Service and Pike National Forest will be on hand for photo ops while spreading the word about urban and wildland fire safety and mitigation.
Dr. Kelly Lear, M.D., Arapahoe County Coroner/Medical Examiner, is bringing her popular “maggot art” program. Kids get to dip live maggots in non-toxic, water-based paint and let them crawl across paper, creating uniquely abstract paintings. In doing so, they learn the importance of entomology in helping investigators solve crimes.
