Colorado Parks and Wildlife joins the celebration of Colorado’s acceptance into statehood with FREE entry to all Colorado State Parks (that includes 42 state parks and 300 state wildlife areas) on Monday, August 5, 2024. Park entrance fees are waived, but activities like fishing and camping will still require a valid license, permit or reservation.
Colorado was first recognized as a state on August 1, 1876. The first Colorado state park emerged some 80 years later.
Although the state recognizes this annual holiday on the first of the month, state parks celebrate the occasion with free entrance on the first Monday of August.
