We’ve all felt a change in the weather and seen televised images of snow on the high peaks. That means, of course, that the tasks of putting gardens to bed for the winter and raking leaves are upon us. We also all know that backyard composting is an effective way to provide quality compost for our own gardens and also reduce waste, but we don’t always know how to go about it effectively.
Boulder County’s upcoming workshops, which are FREE to county residents, discuss how to start and maintain a highly efficient compost system, what to “feed” your compost pile, appropriate bins, tips and troubleshooting and more.
Colorado master composter Melanie Nehls Burow leads these workshops (all from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., except the Saturday workshop in Lafayette, which is from 11 1.m. to 1 p.m.).
They are scheduled for Thursday, October 4 in Boulder; Monday, October 15 in Erie; Saturday, October 2o in Lafayette, and Monday October 22 in Longmont.
