To raise funds to get more men into therapy, Denver-based nonprofit Fishing the Good Fight (FTGF) is throwing a FREE music festival at Breckenridge Brewery’s Barbox in Littleton on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Green Line Music Festival will feature music from Marlee Sacks and Friends, Shaky Hand String Band and Southbound String Band.
There will also be a silent auction including a seven night trip in Patagonia, a four-night guided trip at Horse Creek Ranch in Wyoming, and a tarpon fishing trip in Mexico.
FTGF’s mission is to improve men’s mental health by leveraging the power of fly fishing (including retreats that combine fly fishing + group and individual therapy sessions) and providing scholarships to men who can’t afford therapy.
The therapy sessions on the retreat allow attendees a completely safe setting to discuss individual mental health challenges within a group setting of men interested in improving not just their own lives, but also making lives better for the ones they love.
FTGF was founded by Jennings Hester in 2019. He previously was on the University of Alabama’s famed football team on full scholarship when he began experiencing depression.
After silently suffering for a decade with his illness, Jennings finally began seeing a life-changing psychologist and eventually founded the nonprofit.
Breckenridge Brewery’s Barbox is at Aspen Grove.
