Sunlight Mountain Resort is offering FREE skiing and riding to all active firefighters and first responders each Wednesday of the 2018-19 ski season as part of its new Firefighter Funday campaign. This is the ski area’s way of recognizing the heroic efforts of local firefighters and first responders and also the hundreds who came from out of state to battle wildfires throughout Colorado.
The ski area located just outside of Glenwood Springs was down the road from Western Slope blazes in and around El Jebel, Basalt, New Castle, Rifle, Battlement Mesa and Glenwood Springs itself, where hundreds of thousands acres went up in flames.
Encompassing 17 Wednesdays, active firefighters and first responders just need to show their valid I.D. at the Sunlight lift ticket office to get their free lift ticket for the day. Sunlight is located about 10 miles from Glenwood Springs, which itself is located right along I-70. Click here for driving directions.
