With recent soaring temperatures you may be surprised to learn Colorado has an outdoor ice rink where you can skate or ride bumper cars. Idaho Springs’ Frozen Fire Rink is the coolest place to play hockey, practice your skating tricks or slide and bump your way to fun all while surrounded by our Rocky Mountains.
Of course, the rink is synthetic — but you guessed that. It’s open for everyone and anyone for some family fun. And the historic mining town of Idaho Springs is just a short, but oh-so-pretty drive from Denver.
The rink is reasonably priced.
Skate Tickets (60-minute sessions, includes skate rental):
1 Person — $7
2 People — $12
4 People — $25
Ice Bumper Cars (15-minute rides, must be 48” or taller to ride):
$10 per ride
Hours and days of operation vary, so check the website for a full schedule. Advanced registration is recommended.
Here’s a Groupon we found that saves you up to 36% off skating if you buy a package for two or four people.
There are some upcoming events that offer additional savings.
