Break out the lederhosen! It’s time for German Fest 2018. The event takes place Saturday & Sunday, July 21 & 22 at the Lakewood Heritage Center. Expect plenty of food, beer, music, dancing, and activities for the kids. Central to the Festival is The Beer Garden filled with benches and tables. The tents are large enough to allowing celebrating to continue even if it rains. Surrounding the beer garden are a variety of vendors with European crafts and food.
Speaking of food… the menu is scrumptious. Enjoy wiener schnitzel, sauerbraten, beef goulash, brats, sauerkraut, smoked salmon, apple streudel and more.
Artisans will be painting faces, creating arts & crafts, and making some huge soap bubbles. Bring your dancing shoes, as a covered dance floor will give you plenty of space to show off your polka, waltz, tango, cha-cha and other moves. Kids can even participate in the popular Duck Dance.
Limited seating is available, so feel free to bring your lawn chairs or blankets. Please keep the dogs, glass, backpacks and food at home.
Hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for kids ages 3 to 9. Parking is FREE. 801 S. Yarrow St., Lakewood.
