American abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman will make a stop on Wednesday, August 7 at the Erie Community Library. Okay, maybe this Ms. Tubman isn’t the original, but she’s sure to provide an entertaining evening starting at 6:30 p.m. “Tubman” (as portrayed by Chautauqua scholar Becky Stone) will talk about her time as a spy and a nurse during the Civil War, the Underground Railroad and the Women’s Suffrage movement.
After the living history presentation, audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of both Tubman and Stone. This is especially timely, as a new film about Harriet Tubman is due in theaters this winter. 400 Powers St., Erie, 1-888-861-7323.
