The PEEPs must go on. The PEEPs Literary Diorama Contest, arguably the Longmont Public Library’s most popular annual program, will once again be held entirely online this year. Dioramas will be submitted virtually through social media or email and voting will be conducted on Facebook. This will be the seventh year of the colorful and creative contest.
Contestants may begin submitting photos of their dioramas today in three age categories: Adult (ages 14+); Tween (ages 9-13); and Kid (ages 8 & younger). Prizes will be awarded for the following:
1. Best Adult Diorama
2. Best Tween Diorama
3. Best Kid Diorama
4. Best Transformation of a PEEP
5. Best Diorama Title
6. Library’s Choice (voted on by library staff)
7. Peeple’s Choice (determined by popular vote)
All dioramas must be submitted by midnight, Friday, March 19.
Dioramas must be constructed by the entrant out of a shoebox or other cardboard support, have a book theme, and contain at least one marshmallow PEEP.
Participants can enter the contest by submitting photographs of their diorama, along with their name, diorama title, and age category to the Library through Facebook Messenger, direct message on Twitter, or by email to Library.Marketing@LongmontColorado.gov.
To vote for the Peeple’s Choice award winner, the public can visit the Library’s Facebook page, view the PEEPS Diorama Contest 2021 photo album between Friday, March 26 and Thursday, April 1, and “Like” their favorite diorama.
Alternately, voters can send the name of their favorite diorama to the above Library email. Contest winners in all the categories will be announced on Friday, April 2.
So, with the weather chilly and pandemic gathering restrictions in place, have a little fun with some PEEPs and let your community enjoy the fruits of your labor. Turn your favorite book into a PEEPs diorama!
