Am I An American or Am I Not? will be exhibited for the first time in Colorado at the Loveland Museum from February 18 through March 15, 2025. The exhibition’s title is inspired by Fred Korematsu, a U.S.-born citizen who courageously challenged the government’s wartime orders that led to the forced relocation and imprisonment of Japanese Americans.
When faced with criminal charges for not following the military orders to leave his home without due process, the U.S. born citizen remembered his Constitutional rights and asked, “Am I an American or am I not?”
Dr. Karen Korematsu, Fred’s daughter, will discuss the exhibit’s timeless theme in a FREE public event on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The exhibit features a collection of photographs by renown artists such as Dorothea Lange and Clem Albers, alongside works from contemporary photographers.
These images bridge past and present, shedding light on personal stories and fostering connections that resonate across generations.
