Opera on Tap Colorado is presenting the world premiere of On Our Way, a new opera by composer Nathan Wasner and librettist Alan Olejniczak. The performance is one night only on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Brewability, an inclusive brewery and pizzeria employing adults with disabilities to brew craft beer. Tickets are an affordable $8 to $10.
On Our Way is a short comic tale about youthful idealism and resilience to failure — a highly relatable theme for anyone struggling to achieve big dreams.
Each scene is interspersed with humor and empathy, expressed through the talents of our Opera on Tap singers.
“This new opera fits exactly with our mission to tell a human, relatable story, while promoting the work of contemporary opera composers.” said Opera on Tap Colorado Director Jerome Síbulo.
“It is a completely different experience to work with a living composer. It’s a collaboration, discussing inspiration, vocal line, dramatic choices. The results are always incredible.”
Singers include: Chloe Scull, soprano; Jerome Síbulo, baritone; Ben Boskoff, tenor and Chad Trenton Reagan, bass-baritone.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Purchase them here.
Opera on Tap was founded in New York City in 2005 when a few singers, out for a drink in Brooklyn, wondered what it would be like if classical singers could gig at local bars like bands do.
Opera on Tap has since grown to boast chapters in cities across the country – and now in Colorado!
While casual and even raucous, Opera on Tap is not an open mic. Each month, shows have a theme and singers perform arias and ensembles that more or less match that theme.
Audiences can expect singers to be top notch performers singing music from actual operas – often with a drink in hand!
