Sadly, another area retailer is closing its door for good. An email went out to loyal Pharmaca customers yesterday on Friday informing them that all 22 Pharmaca stores are closing, including the three remaining in the metro area. Liquidation sales — 50% off everything — have started and inventory is moving quickly, so you may want to check your closest one out sooner rather than later.
Here’s a bit of the email: “After the past year’s events of being acquired by Medly, finding out they stopped paying our vendors so we could keep the shelves stocked, Medly filing Chapter 11 last month, and Pharmaca being on the auction block..we just found out yesterday that Walgreens swooped in at the last moment and outbid other potential bidders and will be closing all 22 Pharmaca stores and Pharmaca.com.
“The pharmacies will be closing tomorrow and the retail stores will close February 25. All pharmacy scripts will be transferred to Walgreens stores and everything else will be liquidated starting February 10 to the last day doors will be open on Feb 25.
“Walgreens will not be doing business in these locations — the storefronts will be vacant and empty. Everything will be 50% off so come in and say goodbye to us and the end of a great community resource.”
Word is that on Saturday stores were crowded as many customers came to check out the sale and bid a fond farewell.
All sales are final and no returns are accepted.
Pharmaca stores are located in Boulder (1647 Pearl St. & 645 S. Broadway) and Greenwood Village (5910 S. University Blvd.).
If you can’t make it to a retail location, you can also shop online at Pharmaca.com and receive the same 50% discount.
