Four Red Lobster Colorado locations abruptly closed on Monday. According to CNN, the seafood restaurant chain shuttered at least 48 restaurants across the country. Though the website lists the restaurants as “temporarily closed”, CNN says a restaurant liquidator is selling off the equipment and assets of these sites.
Colorado has just over one dozen Red Lobster outlets. Currently shown as “closed” are:
Denver (8268 E. Northfield Blvd.)
Lakewood (810 S. Wadsworth Blvd.)
Lone Tree (9067 E. Westview Rd.)
Wheat Ridge (4455 Wadsworth Blvd.)
Other locations remain open for now.
Reports are that the chain’s endless (all-you-can-eat) shrimp campaign contributed to the downfall, with restaurants losing money due to the promotion.
Bankruptcy may be on the horizon. If that happens, the chain may choose to downsize further, keeping some locations open or close them all.
