Bring on the nachos, hot dogs and peanuts. And lots of ice-cold beer! It’s here, the opening day for our Colorado Rockies! The city will be buzzing with excitement on Friday, April 8. Of course, downtown will be busy with fans having a good time. These offers are only valid on opening day. For baseball fans on a budget, here are a few deals for opening day:
Dairy Block
LoDo’s Dairy Block micro-district is excited to celebrate the Colorado Rockies Opening Weekend with Game Day on the Block, a variety of fantastic baseball-themed activations offered April 8 to 10.
Concerts by local musicians in the Alley including the following performances:
Friday, April 8 from noon to 2 p.m. – David Lawrence
Saturday, April 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Wrenn & Ian
Sunday, April 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Blind Pigs
Blanchard Family Wines will be serving purple wine, baseball macarons & cake pops, specialty popcorn and charcuterie cones
Colorado Rockies art installations in the Alley – including chalk art by Kyle Bannister and a Baseball Diamond Living Wall by Handsome Little Devils.
Kachina Cantina Opening Day specials will include an Upslope Lager or IPA for $4, an Upslope Beer Bucket for $20 and a beer & a carnitas taco for $6.
(Kachina Cantina will also be serving a special purple margarita inspired by the Colorado Rockies all season long – the Margarita on the Rockies – made with organic butterfly tea infused tequila, agave syrup & fresh lime juice for $11.)
Poka Lola Social Club will be opening early with specials including a Coors Banquet + Butterfly Ball shot for $10, a Butterfly Ball Shot for $6 and Coors Banquet Beer for $5.
Denver Milk Market is partnering with O’Dell, Red Bull, Campari USA, Tito’s & Constellation Brands to host pop-up bars around the food hall, with drink specials to include Tito’s Capri Funs and High West Old Fashioned cocktails.
Denver Milk Market will also serving grab & go hot dogs from outdoor grills on its Wazee St. patio and Morning Jones, Cornicello & Bao will be serving food through their Alley windows.
The Cherry Cricket
The Cherry Cricket – Ballpark (2220 Blake St.) will feature its famous burgers and shakes, along with grab-and-go ballpark pretzels and queso for $6.
Denver Union Station
Denver Union Station is celebrating the start of the 2022 Colorado Rockies season with a Rockies Opening Day Celebration on Friday, April 8.
Designed for the entire family, the festivities will kick off on the Terminal Bar patio starting at 10 a.m. with a baseball art installation photo booth. The first 50 customers who pose and upload their GIFs and photos to social media & tag Denver Union Station will be rewarded with a FREE slice of house-made apple pie.
Free and open to all, fans can enjoy an uplifting house DJ set, sample brews from the historic Tivoli Brewing, play giant Jenga & corn hole and interact with roaming stilt walkers. Face painters will be on hand to help kids show off their Rockies pride.
Terminal Bar will be serving Game Day food specials – including breakfast burritos, Rockies brats, gyro tacos and a baseball burger & fries. Stay caffeinated with Pigtrain’s cold brew cart and satiate your sweet tooth with ice cream sandwiches and purple ice cream from Milkbox Ice Creamery.
Wynkoop Brewing Company
Wynkoop Brewing Company will tap Lockout Maibock, a Maibock brewing during the MLB lockout when they were not sure if the season was going to happen. Now that the season is underway, this beer, lagered according to German tradition but brewed with American hops, is ready to hit fans’ tastebuds out of the park.
In addition, the brewery will release a new batch of Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout, this time brewed with 69 bull testicles. (We warned you!)
To pair with brews, brunch will start at 9 a.m., dogs and brats fresh from the outside grill, Cracker Jacks with a special prize (FREE beer coupon!) and grab-and-go pretzels and beer cheese for $6.
Of course, there are bound to be many more opening day specials and promos around the city. Just ask a bartender or staff member what’s available. Plus, keep your eyes open for promo signs in the window.
