Is your kid the next Taylor Swift? Colorado AMP (After-school Music Program) is offering a FREE Songwriting Workshop Series for kids at its headquarters (8141 N. I-70 Frontage Rd. – Unit 10) in Arvada. The series will cover the basics of songwriting and give participants the chance to create their very own composition. The workshop is for kids 8 and up.
During the workshop, kids will enjoy interactive experiences where they’ll get to explore instruments and start writing their own lyrics and music.
The sessions will cover song structure and creating chord progressions, the creation of melodies and harmonies, how to riff and solo, and how to write killer lyrics — even a performance of their original work.
All sessions will be held in a state-of-the-art music lab, where kids can get individualized instruction, while also collaborating and making connections with new friends.
The sessions are geared towards young or beginner musicians. However, they will be inclusive of more advanced young musicians, too.
No need to bring anything! The musical instruments and tools for music-writing will all be available.
The workshop runs every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. — from May 10 to June 7.
