Can you get a complimentary refill at Starbucks? Such an important question for Starbucks lovers, especially because the cafe keeps raising its prices! There seems to be lots of confusion about the refill policy at Starbucks, so let’s clear it up. Yes, it is true. Customers can enjoy a refill on the house, but there are a few rules. We’ve researched the refill policy, so you don’t have to do the work.
The offer is available at participating locations, including many cafés located within other retailers (King Soopers, Safeway and Target.) However, it’s always best to clarify first before ordering.
Here’s how the refill policy works:
Refills only apply to coffee (hot, iced coffee or cold brew) or tea (hot or iced, not including lemonade.)
Use your registered Starbucks Card or Starbucks app to purchase any beverage, including coffee or tea.
Present that same Starbucks Card or Starbucks app to get FREE refills of brewed coffee or tea. The offer does not apply to any other beverages.
Enjoy a coffee or tea refill, regardless of the original beverage purchased.
The offer only applies to beverages enjoyed in-café during the same visit. Once you leave the café, your visit has ended and you’re no longer eligible for a complimentary refill.
(Note: Refills are not available in the drive-thru.)
By the way, customers without a registered Starbucks account may purchase a refill at a reduced price.
However, joining Starbucks Rewards is FREE, so you’d be wasting money by not joining the loyalty program just for the complimentary refills — especially if you often enjoy your beverage in-café.
