The Town of Frederick celebrates the many forms of flight with its annual Frederick in Flight — including hot air balloon lifts, tethered balloon rides, a Glow Party with beer garden and food trucks, and tons of FREE fun for the whole family Friday to Sunday, June 26 to 28, 2026.

On Friday, Saturday & Sunday, watch about 25 hot air balloons lift off at daybreak (that’s about 6 a.m.) at Centennial Park (601 8th St.), if weather conditions are ideal.
On Saturday, weather permitting you can take a tethered balloon ride at 7 a.m. First come, first serve.
Participants must sign a waiver, and rides will be in order of waivers signed. Balloon pilot has the final say in the passengers allowed to ride.

Keep your feet firmly planted on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Balloon Bash in Centennial Park featuring live music, food trucks, a beer garden, activities for kids, and hot air balloons candle sticking and glowing (weather permitting).
Here’s the Saturday night Balloon Bash schedule:
Hot air balloons will candle-stick and glow (weather permitting) during the evening at various times.
Pilots arrive around 6 p.m.
Live music on the big stage:
- 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: The Jack Hadley Band, a blues rock guitarist with Jack’s soulful voice and sharp guitar skills coming out in his original Blues songs.
- 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Hazel Miller & The Collective, with Hazel Miller & The Collective, you get original, Jazz, blues, R&B, and popular music, each song with the band’s own flavor! Guaranteed to rock the house!
