The Upstart Crow Theatre Company has been producing and performing classical theater in Boulder since 1980. Their latest production, Dear Brutus, plays at the Dairy Art Center from May 24 to June 3. Tickets start at $25, but there are two chances to see the play for FREE.
Blending elements from Shakespeare and British mythology, Dear Brutus by J.M. Barrie takes us on a haunting journey of magic, mystique and discovery. Join eight house guests in the English countryside, each struggling with their own regrets, as they are introduced to an enigmatic host and dared to ask the question, “What If…?”
Thirteen years after giving the world his classic children’s story, Peter Pan, J.M. Barrie decided it was time to take the adults to Neverland. The locals tell a tale of a fantastical forest that appears out of nowhere on Midsummer’s Eve and how anyone with the courage to explore it has never been seen again.
One by one the guests enter the dreaded wood and find out just how different their lives might have been.
The shows run Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Thursdays are Name-Your-Price-Night. Those performances are Thursday, May 24 & 31. There’s no set price or suggested donation. Audiences are asked to leave an amount of their choice. No reservations are accepted and seating is on a first-come, first served basis.
