Get your ceramic fix this weekend at two huge pottery sales in Longmont and Aurora. This is a great way to buy fine works at a reasonable price direct from the craftsmen themselves. You may even find the perfect gift for Mom, Dad, your favorite grad or even check off the Christmas list a bit early.
♦ The 4-day Boulder Potters Guild Spring Show and Sale features decorative, functional and sculptural pieces (especially garden art) and pottery-making demonstrations. The show and sale boasts a wide range of ceramic processes from low temperature earthenware, raku and pit fire finishes; to high-fire porcelains and stoneware, including salt- and soda- fired work. Other mediums presented include jewelry, textiles, fused glass, painted silk and embossed paper.

♦ Hand-thrown pottery and unique sculptures by more than two dozen members of the Aurora Potters’ Guild are on sale at a Spring Pottery Show, Friday, May 3 from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. New pieces are added throughout the day so unlike some other shows, all the good stuff isn’t gone in the first hour.
